Allah Rakha Rahman, popularly known as A R Rahman was born in Chennai, India in the year 1966. His father R K Shekhar was a composer himself and this opened the gates of music for Rahman. Having lost his father at an early age, Rahman worked as a keyboard player in small bands. He started his musical training under Master Dhanraj and meanwhile learnt Harmonium, Guitar, Synthesizer and Piano.

A R Rahman, also known as “Mozart of Madras” has won 13 Filmfare Awards, 4 National Film Awards, a golden Globe, 2 Academy Awards and 1 BAFTA Award. He has a graduation degree in Western Classical Music from Trinity College of Music. He had performed overseas with Zakir Hussain, L Shankar and many more. He also features in the list of world’s all time top selling artists.
