Rabbi Shergill
Gurpreet Shergill, popularly known as Rabbi Shergill was born in 1975. His father is a Sikh Priest and his mother is a Punjabi poet and also a college principal. He did his schooling from Guru Harkrishan Public school. He completed his graduation from Sri Guru Tegh BahadurKhalsa College and started for further studies at Fore School of Management. But his first love, music, persuaded him to drop his studies and start his quest for a life in music.
He started his career singing ad jingles for many brands. He had to work really hard for his debut album. Three companies backed out due to some reasons or the other and so Rabbi was made to wait for more than three years. At last Phat phish records offered him the contract and his debut album “RABBI” was launched in 2004. His some famous songs are: -
* Bulla Ki Jana Me Kaun
* Aj Nachna
* Jugni
* Tere Bin
* Ishtihar
* Heer
* Dilli
* Laundiya Ke Pallu Me
* Kabhi Ana Na
* Totia Manmotia
* Gill Te Guitar
* Ek Geet Hijar Da
* Kabhi Aana Na
* Kitni Der Tak
* Ei Gori
* Sab Se Piche Hum Khade
* Challa
* Aa Yaraa
* Dhol Wajda
* Mundiya Te Dil Hil Gaye
* Dhol Dhamaka
* Kesariya Balam
* Pahadi
* Lawaris
* Sajan
* Chandni Rat
Rabbi has also composed for some Bollywood movies, most important of them being Delhi Heights. His songs are contemporary and have a tinge of Sufism, which attracts the masses totally. This is the reason that Bulla Ki Jana was the chat topper in the year 2005. Rabbi had also performed at many overseas concerts.
