Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was born in the year 1974 in the city of Faisalabad to Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan. He was a singer, more specifically a singer of Qawalli. Apart from Qawalli, he also mastered ghazals. His family had been associated with Qawalli for more than 6 centuries. He was trained by his uncle and the famous maestro in Qawalli, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Rahat started his musical training at a very tender age. He performed in public when he was only 11 years old. Under the fine training and guidance of his uncle, Rahat evolved into a singer of world class quality.

Apart from Qawallis and ghazals, Rahat had also sung for many Bollywood movies. Through his powerful voice he had made many Bollywood songs immortal. Some of the Rahat songs worth mentioning are: -

Rahat had worked with many western composers like Eddie Vedder, James Horner, Mel Gibson and many more. He had also launched some personal albums into the market, the first of them being “Charkha” which was a big hit. After the death of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat took over as his successor as it was the desire of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to see Rahat in his shoes. Truly, Rahat has made his uncle proud of him.
